The Grey Wolf
In the fourth Century BC., the Oscan tribes inhabited our area : Irpinia.
The word Irpinia comes in fact from their ancient language
Oscan chose the grey wolf as their symbol animal, being very popular in this area at the time. These tribes used to worship the wolf and
they used to offer preys to wolves in this area in order to have a peaceful cohabitation with wolf packs of the area.
The Oscan tribes firmly believed that wolves were spiritual animals, who ruled this land, in which the present tribes were only guests.
This was such an important symbol that we wanted to represent the Irpinia wolf in our label, while wondering in the boundless lands of
Irpinia.
