Borgo Paglianetto website – click here
Area: Marche
The etymology of its name takes up a geographical indication, in fact designating an ancient area of the city of Matelica. Petrara looks like an evolved wine, with an important maturation; the vineyard from which it comes is oriented to the south and therefore enjoys greater exposure to sunlight.

2024 – 2031
The 2021 Verdicchio di Matelica Petrara is coy and understated in the glass, with dusty yellow flowers and nuances of chamomile. It washes across the palate, balancing soft textures with ripe mineral-tinged pit fruits, as inner florals form toward the close. This turns savory and seriously salty through the long and mouthwatering finale, as hints of candied lime linger. More time in bottle should help to further unlock the bouquet of the Petrara, which will be worth waiting for, especially considering the fireworks on the palate.
